With spring coming along shortly many people are starting to take a look at their gardens and thinking about what needs to be done to get them in shape for summer time. While the popular saying claims that after the showers comes May flowers, the May flowers are not going to look half as beautiful if they are still surrounded with the weeds, dirt, and debris of the long and cold winter. The first thing that you will want to do is clean out all of the debris from your garden. It is recommended that you fertilise at least once a year at the beginning of spring so that you give your new plants a fighting chance at coming up strong and healthy during the spring. This includes even the year round plants since they could use a boost in nutrients as well as the fertiliser will seep into their roots allowing for that.

Finally, at this point you get into the fun part of gardening which is choosing the plants that you want to place into it for the spring. Certain landscape professionals will try to aim for a mesh of different colours and a mesh of different plants so that your garden is attractive visually to you as well as to garden wildlife. After all, half of the fun of a well maintained garden is watching the local wildlife in play inside of it so remember the smaller creatures while thinking about what to plant this year.
